The early bird gets the worm is an oft used expression. The early bird gets the dough is more apt in this particular case. You see, it was December 2015 that Jayman MasterBUILT chairman and community leader Jay Westman sent out a letter to his vast network of business associates and friends asking them to budget support for the Mustard Seed as part of their 2016 giving. Take note those who ask for charitable support. The ask worked. Big time.
Westman and his fabulous wife Karen have co-chaired the annual Seeds of Hope Gala in support of the Mustard Seed for several years. And this year’s gala-the last gala the dynamic duo will co-chair, was held Nov 4 in Gasoline Alley at Heritage Park. That a staggering $712,000 was raised is proof positive that the early bird really does get the dough. Such phenomenal success would not be possible were it not for the incredible support from well-known philanthropist Allan Markin who alone donated $300,000. And for those who purchased tables of 8 to the gala-$12,000 per garnered Golden Seeds bragging rights-an exclusive invitation to the Westman’s home Oct 15 ensured tables were snapped up at an impressive rate.
