The iconic Lougheed House was the place to be Sept 11 as lovers of all things historic-and fashionable-gathered for Daring Deco- a 1920s fashion show featuring rare apparel from the private collection of renowned Vancouver fashion historian Ivan Sayers.
The VIP reception, hosted by Sayers, afforded guests the opportunity of learning little-known insights about WWI era clothing, the early and late 1920s and the daring flapper look. The runway performance, held in a specially erected tent for the occasion, featured live music, period dancing and Borzio Russian Wolf Hound show dogs. Post-show featured live jazz, tours of the Museum floor with Curator Trisha Carleton and refreshments and hors d’oeuvres prepared by proprietors Kerri Murray and Rob Grisdale.
Guests in attendance this night included: Jeanne Lougheed and her son Stephen, his wife Mary and their daughter Kathleen; Trimac’s Jeff McCaig and his wife Marilyn; Lougheed House executive director Kirstin Evenden and colleague Juila Gunst; philanthropists David and Margot Kitchen; Dr. Chen Fong; Lee Richardson; Sen. Elect Mike Shaikh and his wife Linda; emcee Ken Lima Coelho; pianist Sarah Vann; Cedric Blary; and Trudy Cowan.
Proceeds from the evening were directed to the Lougheed House Conservation Society which provides immersive experiences for youth while showcasing our unique heritage.
